After an extensive nationwide search, the board of directors of the Kahilu Theatre Foundation announced it selected Deborah Goodwin as its executive director.
Goodwin joins Kahilu Theatre’s artistic director Tim Bostock and the professional staff and volunteers as the arts organization launches its 35th season in Septem-ber.
Good-win has lived on Hawaii Island more than 30 years and was raised on Oahu. She has an extensive background in nonprofit management, writing, filmmaking, research and education. She has served with a variety of organizations, including the Nature Conservancy, Oceanic Institute, Parker School, Humboldt State (Calif.) University, Humboldt Arts Council and the Morris Graves Museum of Art in California. Most recently she was director of advancement at the W.M. Keck Observatory.
As Kahilu’s executive director, Goodwin will focus on management and the long-term sustainability of the organization.
She also will lead the development of a comprehensive education program for the theater that will benefit youth and adults in the community.
