Woman’s club rummage sale

The Hilo Woman’s Club is having a rummage sale from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at its clubhouse, 7 Lele St.

Donations of gently used furniture, household items, clothing and toys are gratefully accepted from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday.

The Hilo Woman’s Club has been serving Hilo and local communities for 94 years. The club is composed of women representing a wide range of ages, interests and experiences, all dedicated to the success of the club and making the community a better place.

Hawaiian Air honors hospice

Hawaiian Airlines showed its appreciation to Hospice of Hilo with a gift of flower lei for this year’s May Day celebration. Every May Day Hawaiian Airlines honors a community organization by delivering lei to the organization’s office.

“Hospice of Hilo truly embodies the meaning of aloha, that sense of giving so much with no expectation of getting anything back,” said Craig Shiroma, Hawaiian Airlines district sales manager, Hawaii Island.

For more than 32 years Hospice of Hilo has been serving the east and south portions of Hawaii Island. Hospice of Hilo offers a home care program, inpatient care program, community bereavement program and palliative care program at the Hawaii Palliative Care Center.

Road closing for parade

Pahoa Village Road from Kauhale Road to the parking lot entrance of Sacred Heart Church will close from 9 a.m.-noon during the Memorial Day Santa Cruzan Festival parade on May 25.

Android phone workshop set

The College of Continuing Education and Community Service at the University of Hawaii at Hilo is offering a workshop about the basics of using the Android phone 5-8 p.m. June 1 in UH-Hilo’s Library, Room 359. The cost is $55.
