Police and Fire personnel responded to Waiakea Intermediate School this afternoon 1:08 p.m. for a reported hazardous odor which resulted in at least one person complaining of dizziness.

After a few minutes of searching the area for the source, it was concluded by Hawaii Fire Department hazardous material specialists that the origin of the smell likely originated off-site and was delivered by the wind. The odor had dissipated in a few minutes and left no apparent lingering effects or odor. An all clear for students and faculty was given at approximately 1:53 p.m.

The upper parking lot area, which had initially been closed off due to the checks, has been re-opened for normal student pickup.
