Laaloa Beach park in Kailua-Kona has been closed due to a shark sighting.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources closed the beach at approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday after a 12-foot tiger shark was sighted about 20 feet offshore at the beach.

No other beach parks will be closed. The beach will likely remain closed until 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the DLNR.
