The community is invited to Recycle Hawaii’s 22nd annual membership meeting from 10 a.m.-noon Sunday in the Thelma Parker Library at 67-1209 Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea, next to the Firehouse Gallery. A meeting of the Recycle Hawaii Board of Directors will follow a potluck lunch.

Nominations and elections will be hosted for the all-volunteer board of directors for up to 10 open positions from among members in good standing.

During the meeting, Samantha Robinson and Noah Dodd, two of the agency’s home-composting educators, will demonstrate the making of Bokashi starter for an under-the-kitchen-counter method of composting dairy, fats and other organics to help keep organics out of the landfills.

There also will be discussion about the mayor’s plan for a waste reduction facility, focusing on the various technologies, or combination of solutions, which could be employed.
