PacWest honors Vuls’ Kurokawa
University of Hawaii at Hilo’s Jordan Kurokawa has been named the Pacific West Conference co-Pitcher of the Week.
Kurokawa, a 6-foot-3 sophomore right-hander out of Maryknoll High School on Oahu, did not allow an earned run in 11.1 innings pitched over two starts for the week, March 16-22.
Kurokawa struck out two in 2.0 scoreless innings of a nonconference loss at Sonoma State. He then earned a complete game victory at Academy of Art, in which he allowed one unearned run and six hits while striking out six. He has allowed just one earned run over his last four starts, a total of 19.2 innings pitched.
The Vulcans, under first-year head coach Kallen Miyataki, split a four-game PacWest series at Academy of Art. They play conference twinbills today and Wednesday at Holy Names, in Oakland, Calif.
