The Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) girls volleyball season continued Tuesday across the isle. Teams are approaching the midway point of the regular season slate before island playoffs begin in October.

KS-Hawai‘i 3,

Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i remained unbeaten in its straight-sets victory over BIIF II team Ka‘u at home in Kea‘au. The Warriors won handily — 25-9, 25-8 and 25-19.
The usual Warriors’ superstars led the way in the box score, as Maile Kuamo‘o dished out 13 assists. Shay Beals led the group in kills with 13, followed by teammates Mia Polloi and Camryn Grace with six each. Polloi also secured five blocks at the net to anchor KSH’s defense.
In the service department, Grace and Ziona Launiu had three apiece.
Now at 9-0, the Warriors will aim to be the first team on the island to reach double-digit wins with their next test against Pahoa — slated for 6 p.m. Monday at home.
The Trojans (5-3) will continue their slate against DI competition with their upcoming match against Hilo, scheduled for 5 p.m. tonight in Pahala. Junior varsity will play the first match of the evening.
Waiakea 3, Pahoa 0
Waiakea girls volleyball got back on track Tuesday after falling to No. 1-seeded KS-Hawai‘i over the weekend. The Warriors blanked the Daggers in straight sets in Hilo by scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-20.
Waiakea moves to 6-1, tied with Konawaena in the No. 2 spot in BIIF DI (as of late Wednesday afternoon). Pahoa dropped to .500 at 4-4 — still remaining in fourth in BIIF DII.
The Warriors additionally played Wednesday night against fellow DI rival Kea‘au. See Friday’s paper for the results. Waiakea will also face KS-Hawaii next Wednesday.
The Daggers will also next face KS-Hawai‘i, scheduled for Monday night in Kea‘au.
Honoka‘a 3,

Honoka‘a girls volleyball had a successful business trip to Kona town on Tuesday — beating Makua Lani Christian Academy in consecutive sets in Old Airport’s Kekuaokalani Gymnasium.
The Dragons won by scores of 25-9, 25-19 and 25-7 — making quick work of the Lions.
Honoka‘a improved to 3-4 to tie with Kohala in the No. 5 spot in Division II (as of late Wednesday afternoon). Makua Lani is still in search of win No. 1 of 2024, now at 0-8 to start the year and in the cellar of DII.
The Dragons will continue their west-side tour with a Saturday afternoon match against Konawaena. Junior varsity will play first, with first serve slated for 2 p.m.
The Lions will drive north to Kamuela to face DII powerhouse Hawaii Preparatory Academy at 5 p.m. Friday in Castle Gym. Junior varsity will get things going in the first match of the night.
