The state Department of Health today reported 403 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Hawaii, including 68 new infections on the Big Island.
An average of 393 new cases have been reported daily Sept. 16-22.
Hawaii County now has a 5.7% test positivity rate compared to a 4.8% positivity rate statewide.
In the past 14 days, 256 infections have been reported in Hilo and 240 have been reported in Kailua-Kona.
During that same time period, 56 cases have been reported in the Captain Cook, Ocean View and Honaunau areas; 104 in Pahoa; and 90 in Keaau.
Nine additional deaths also were reported today.
On Hawaii Island a woman, 60-69, and two men, ages 50-59 and over 80, had been hospitalized.
On Oahu, four women, ages 20-29, 30-39, 60-69 and over 80, also were hospitalized, while two men, ages 20-29 and 60-69, died at home.
All nine individuals had underlying conditions.
According to the DOH, 67.2% of Hawaii’s population has now been fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus and 75.6% have received at least one dose.
In Hawaii County, 64% of residents are fully inoculated while 75% have received at least one dose.

Testing is available from 1-3 p.m. today at Pahoa District Park and 1-5 p.m. at Kona Community Aquatic Center in Kailua-Kona.
