The state Department of Health today reported 581 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Hawaii, including 89 new infections on the Big Island.
An average of 563 new cases have been reported daily Sept. 9-15.
Hawaii County now has a 6.7% test positivity rate compared to a 6.5% positivity rate statewide.
In the past 14 days, 318 infections have been reported in Hilo and 353 have been reported in Kailua-Kona.
During that same time period, 72 cases have been reported in Waimea; 55 in the Captain Cook, Ocean View and Honaunau areas; 101 in Pahoa; and 92 in Keaau.
Fifteen additional COVID-related deaths also were reported today. Additional information about those deaths, however, was not immediately available.
According to the DOH, 66.1% of Hawaii’s population has now been fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus and 74.6% have received at least one dose.
In Hawaii County, 63% of residents are fully inoculated while 74% have received at least one dose.

Testing is available from 1.-3 p.m. today at Pahoa District Park, 15-3022 Kauhale St., Pahoa, and 1-5 p.m. at the Kona Community Aquatic Center in Kailua-Kona.
