Four individuals, two men and two women, have been arrested and charged in separate cases involving stolen vehicles and other offenses.
In Hilo, police apprehended 30-year-old Saesha Shante Tiarelynn Pua-Olena Marie Paz and 32-year-old Rory Robert Neville, both of Hilo, early Friday morning after a crime spree that started late Thursday morning.
The alleged spree included burglary of a commercial building and theft of a vehicle in Kaumana, burglaries of a business and residence in Waiakea, plus a third business burglary.
Paz was charged with four counts of habitual property crime, three counts of burglary of a business during an emergency, two counts of first-degree theft, two counts of fourth-degree theft, auto theft and burglary of a dwelling during an emergency.
Hilo District Judge Bruce Larson on Monday maintained Paz’s bail at $45,000 and ordered her to appear today for a preliminary hearing.
Neville was charged with burglary of a dwelling during an emergency, burglary of a business during an emergency period, first-degree theft, auto theft, methamphetamine possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and second-degree trespassing.
His bail was set at $24,250.
Larson granted Neville supervised release over the objection of prosecutors and ordered him to appear on Dec. 14 for a preliminary hearing.
In Kailua-Kona, police on Friday afternoon apprehended 20-year-old Kealii K. Liilii and a 23-year-old Caitlin K. Tailan, both of Kailua-Kona, for allegedly operating a stolen vehicle, theft, drug, and firearms offenses.
Police say the owner of a stolen vehicle saw the car parked within a commercial lodging establishment in the 75-5000 block of Kuakini Highway. Officers responded and apprehended Liilii and Tailan shortly afterwards in one of the units of the hotel.
Search warrants were executed on the vehicle and room, resulting in the recovery of a stolen firearm and narcotics, police said.
Liilii was charged with three counts of auto theft, two counts of fourth-degree theft, methamphetamine possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, contempt of court, first-degree burglary, first-degree theft of a firearm, second-degree theft, and two counts of fourth-degree theft.
Tailan was charged with three counts of auto theft, plus first-degree burglary, first-degree theft of a firearm, second-degree theft, two counts of fourth-degree theft, methamphetamine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Kona District Judge Margaret Masunaga on Monday maintained bail for Liilii, who is on probation at $97,000 bail, and ordered him to appear today for a preliminary hearing.
Tailan was freed on supervised release without objection by prosecutors and also ordered to appear today for a preliminary hearing.
