Authorities identified the two Thirty Meter Telescope protesters who were arrested Friday and charged with obstruction of a government operation as an unpermitted structure was demolished on Department of Hawaiian Home Lands property near Puuhuluhulu on Daniel K. Inouye Highway.
The men were identified as 33-year-old Mauloaokala Solomon Covington of Waimea and 32-year-old Eric Ikaika Kaili Johnston of Mountain View.
According to a police log, both were released after posting $500 bail each and are scheduled to appear Sept. 20 in Hilo District Court.
