Tropical Gardening: July brings blooming trees and maybe summer storms

Photo courtesy of VOLTAIRE MOISE The royal poinciana, or flamboyant, from Madagascar would be extinct if not for early plant explorers who helped distribute seeds to other tropical regions. The tree is well adapted to drier regions and is one of many flowering trees gracing landscapes of Hawaii, tropical Asia, America and Africa.

As the days get warmer and the sun is strong, it is a great time to enjoy Hawaii’s flowering trees such as the royal poinciana, tabebuia, plumeria, cassia shower, narra and many more.
