The Volcano Art Center Gallery is pleased to announce its first exhibition since returning to its location in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
The Volcano Art Center Gallery is pleased to announce its first exhibition since returning to its location in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
The gallery will host an exhibition of art pieces made by 18 artists at VAC’s first Artists’ Collaboration event. The exhibition, “Volcano Collaborations 2018: Artists Invitational,” will be on display through Nov. 4 and will be followed by an online auction for those who can’t attend the live event.
An opening reception for the exhibit is slated for 5-7 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 13) at the VAC Gallery.
During the first week of June, while the gallery was closed and the earth was quaking from the descent of magma from Kilauea’s summit, 18 master artists of varying media came from around the island to make art together for two days. Coordinated by Volcano artist Elizabeth Miller, the artists who answered the creative call included Lisa Louise Adams, Nash Adams Pruitt, Elizabeth Miller, Scott Pincus, Ed Clapp, Erik Wold, Joe Laceby, Henry Bianchini, Amy Flanders, Rose Adare, Eve Furchgott, Ethan Froney, Tai Lake, Mary Jo Lake, Jonah Lake, David Reisland, Matthew D’Avella and Bill Hamilton.
Proceeds from the exhibit will go toward funding for the proposed Fire Arts Building at VAC’s Ni‘aulani Campus in Volcano Village.
“We invite everyone back into the gallery in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to view this exciting exhibit,” said gallery manager Emily C. Weiss. “During the chaos of the summer months, it was completely refreshing to witness these talented artists coming together and creating amazing works of art. The joy that was shared during this unique art making experience was so important for the artists and for our community. The Volcano Art Center was so pleased to host this eventf and looks forward to more in the coming years.”
