KANEOHE, O‘ahu — The Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) girls golf state championship concluded Wednesday after two rounds of play at the Kaneohe Klipper Course.
BIIF champion Anna Sailer — of Hawaii Preparatory Academy — placed No. 20 to lead all BIIF golfers at the tourney, shooting 80 in both rounds to finish 16 over with four birdies, eight bogies and five double-bogeys.
‘Iolani School’s Jasmine Wong carded two over (74 and 72) to become the state individual champion — shooting five birdies, four bogeys and one double-bogey.
Hilo High’s Lauren Kozohara was the next-highest finisher from the BIIF, shooting +25 (86 and 83) to place No. 34.
Three more BIIF golfers finished in the top 50 — No. 47 Madelyn Awaya of Waiakea High (+36, 96 and 84), No. 48 Adriana Volpe of KS-Hawai‘i (+36, 90 and 90) and Waiakea’s Ava Herr (+37, 94 and 87).
Just outside of the top 50 were Kealakehe’s Kaylee Palakiko-Belt (No. 55), HPA’s Helly Hughes (No. 56), KSH’s Zaynie Lee Chow (No. 57), Waiakea’s Kiara Kimata (No. 59) and Hilo’s Kierstin Ramos (No. 60) and Mika Oli (No. 61).
Waiakea and Hilo were the only two BIIF schools to compete as teams.
The Warriors placed No. 9, shooting +122 (289 and 265) — while the Vikings collectively carded +126 (285 and 273) to place No. 10.
Punahou School carded +13 (233 and 212) to win its second post-pandemic team title and 13th overall — maintaining its status as the state’s winningest girls golf program of all time.
Two Buffanblu golfers — Jessice Lee (+3, 76, 71) and Nicole Ikeda (+4 78, 70) — placed in the top three, landing at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. An additional three of their teammates finished among the top 13 — as the Buffanblu beat No. 2 Mililani by 20 strokes.
