Violet Nora Caravalho, 89, of Kapaau died Feb. 15 in Waimea. Born in Kohala, she was a retired waitress for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and member of Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Kohala Senior Citizens Club. Visitation 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday (March 12) at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Eulogy at 9:45 a.m. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the church cemetery. Casual attire; face masks required. Survived by son, Harvey (Eva) Caravalho of Kohala; daughters, Susan (James) Keadle and Stella (Warren) Mendoza of Las Vegas, Patricia (Craig) Higaki of Waimea; sister, Margaret (Charles) Cosbodillo of Honolulu; sister-in-law, Maxine Pada of Honolulu; brother-in-law, Earl Kenneth Caravalho of Hilo; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary Maunahoolako Hooper, 76, of Honalo, died Feb. 7 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for Kona Country Club and a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. Private service. Survived by daughters, Melissa (Carl) Pond and Heather (Jackson Cagampang-Paahana) Hooper of Honalo; brother, William (Momi) Hooper of Puuanahulu; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; hanai grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Richard “Dickie” Charles Perreira, 75, of Hilo died Feb. 12 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired county firefighter, owner of the former Aloha Pumping Service, member of First Missionary Baptist Church and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran during the Vietnam War. Private services held. Survived by wife, Ruth Perreira of Hilo; children, Jacqueline (Corey) Green of Las Vegas, Clayton (Nicole) Perreira and Calvin Perreira of Hilo; siblings, Betty Jane Bega of Maui, Francine Hollinger of Oahu and Alfred Sextimo of Hilo; hanai brothers, Ted “Tito” Nicolas and Terry Nicolas Sr. of Hilo; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Susan Masako Kiyojima, 77, of Hilo died Feb. 12 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired clerk at Waiakea High School. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts).
