A joint hearing of three House committees was scheduled to vote on House Bill 2024 Wednesday, but Kohala Rep. David Tarnas, chair of the House Water and Land Committee, said the committees need more time to consider it.
“We’re still having discussions, we’re still reviewing testimony,” Tarnas said. “Everyone’s talking to the members of their committees and discussing possible amendments. … It’s a very complex, difficult issue.”
The vote will now take place at 9 a.m. on March 2.
Tarnas said that because of looming House deadlines, the bill cannot be postponed again and still advance in this year’s legislative session.
