Elijah Dinkel’s 14th goal helped Kamehameha’s ever-busy boys soccer team find its second wind.
His 15th earned it a little time off.
The Warriors tied Makua Lani 2-2 on Dinkel’s late goal Thursday in Kailua-Kona, locking down a first-round bye in the BIIF Division II boys soccer playoffs.
After a stretch in which it played seven times in 11 days, second-seeded Kamehameha (6-2-2, 20 points) will get a full week’s rest before Thursday’s semifinals at Paiea Stadium in what could be a rematch with the Lions (5-3-2).
Makua Lani took a 2-0 lead behind goals by Nuuhiwa Beatty and Chase Lurbiecki. As the third seed, the Lions welcome Christian Liberty (2-8) in the first round Tuesday.
Hawaii Prep 9, Keaau 0: Aidan Santos, Mason Hunt and Kaiser Mochizuki tallied two goals apiece Thursday in Waimea as Ka Makani earned the top seed in the D-II playoffs.
Santos, who added two assists, has 18 goals on the session, while Hunt, who had an assist, has 11. Dan Mizutani and Ben Kubo added goals, Stefano Ioannou collected two assists and senior Patanjah Raul kept a clean sheet. The Cougars (0-10) allowed an own goal.
HPA (6-1-2) tied Kamehameha atop Division II but played one fewer match because a postponed contest with Kealakehe never was rescheduled. Ka Makani were awarded the top seed based on winning percentage, and face either Parker or Honokaa on Thursday in the semis.
Parker 4, Christian Liberty 2: Fatuaiga Fuga scored three goals for the Bulls (4-6) ahead of their first round match Tuesday against Honokaa (3-7) in Waimea.
Tim Costales scored both goals for the Canefire, who also allowed an own goal.
“Great, fun game,” Christian Liberty coach Troy Rimel said in a text to the Tribune-Herald. “Very competitive from our standpoint.”

Hilo 9, Honokaa 0: Leha Harman netted a hat trick to up his season total to 18, Sequoia Cortes-Medeiros scored twice at Hilo Bayfront and the Vikings clinched the top seed in D-I and an automatic berth to the HHSAA tournament.
Mike DeCoito, Kyler Rivera, Ko’ae Pe’a and Tait Labra also scored goals and Tysen Kaniaupio and Keona Daleres each had a hand in the shutout.
The Vikings (9-1, 27 points) draw winless Keaau in the semifinals Wednesday. The other D-I semifinal that day matches Kealakehe (6-2-1) at Waiakea (7-0-3).
