James V. DeFilippis, 72, of Hilo died July 17 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Josephine “Miss D” DeMorales, 78, of Hilo died Aug. 9 at home. Born in Naalehu, she was a retired principal of Ka‘u High School and Pahala Elementary School and vice principal of Konawaena High School.
