Food Basket receives donation from ‘We’re All In This Together’ program

Creative Arts Hawaii, a locally-owned custom apparel company, along with many employees of Hawaii County recently made a $1,280 donation to The Food Basket – Hawaii Island’s Food Bank. The donation comes from the proceeds of “We’re All In This Together,” a program created to support the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Creative Arts Hawaii has always taken pride in being a part of the local community and created “We’re All In This Together” to show support.

“We know that food insecurity impacts so many, and together with the County of Hawaii we are glad to play a role in helping our community,” said Randy Kurohara of Creative Arts Hawaii.

“‘Weʻre All In This Together’ continues to send a positive message of hope and the need for everyone’s help in keeping our community safe,” said Barett Otani with the county. “We as employees of Hawaii County are thankful for organizations such as The Food Basket and Creative Arts Hawaii that share in the mission of caring for the health and safety of our Big Island ohana.”

“Mahalo for the support to help our most vulnerable residents!” said Kristin Frost Albrecht, executive director of The Food Basket. “Knowing that this donation not only represents the goodwill and generosity of Creative Arts, but also that of over 1,200 County of Hawaii employees is incredibly heartwarming. We are truly ‘all in this together’!”

The Food Basket has provided hunger relief on Hawaii Island since 1989, and has provided services to more than 80,000 food-insecure residents a month since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
