Wendell Walter Grace, 78, of Hilo died May 31 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Honolulu, he was an electrical engineer, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and U.S. Army and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran. Private services held. Yaeko Yoshioka, 97, of Captain Cook died June 10 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in Paauilo, she was a coffee farmer, retired housekeeper for the former Kona Plantation, Kona Surf Hotel and Kona Islander Inn and member of Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and Honaunau Kumiai No. 2. Private services. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sons, Glenn Yoshioka of Renton, Wash., Kirk (Melissa) Yoshioka of Hurst, Texas, and Clayton Yoshioka of Captain Cook; daughters, Sandra Yoshioka of Captain Cook and Doreen (Gary) Thorne of Maple Valley, Wash.; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
