Amon-Wilkins receives bachelor of arts degree

Alexis Amon-Wilkins of Hilo graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in criminology and justice studies from Avila University in Kansas City, Mo.

Students graduate from Dixie State

Zachary Egle of Hilo received an associate of science degree, Tera Mestuzzi of Mountain View was awarded a bachelor of science degree and Daniel Namahoe of Hilo received a bachelor of science degree from Dixie State University in St. George, Utah.

Wong Yuen receives award

Kekai Wong Yuen of Hilo was awarded the Mary Stearns Barkalow Award from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo., during the college’s annual Honors Convocation, conducted virtually this year on May 14. The traditional ceremony celebrates outstanding students, faculty and staff, and includes the bestowing of departmental awards, all-college awards and awards from the Student Government Association. Wong Yuen is a senior English major.

Streiter graduates from College of Charleston

Jackson Streiter of Waimea recently graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in communication and a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish from College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.

Hilo student named to honor roll at Whitworth University

Isabel Fukushima of Hilo was named to the provost’s honor roll for the spring semester at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash. To be named to the list, undergraduate students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.75 or better during the semester.

Newton named to dean’s list

Riley Newton of Kailua-Kona, a graduate of Makua Lani Christian School majoring in theatre acting and directing, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. Any full-time student who achieves a grade-point average of at least 3.6 for 12 or more graded hours or part-time student who achieves a GPA of at least 3.6 for six or more graded hours in the fall or spring semester is placed on the dean’s list.
