August A. Ballo, 70, of Pahala died April 10 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Irtah, Palestine, she was a wife and mother, substitute teacher for the Department of Education, taught Palestinian cross-stitch at Hawaii Community College, enjoyed ceramics, plastic canvas and Hawaiian quilting at the Kamana Center and had a degree in anthropology with honors from the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
