A California packing company issued a voluntary recall of several vegetable products for fear of potential bacterial contamination.
Mann Packing Co. is recalling more than 100 products, mostly packaged vegetables, out of “an abundance of caution” stemming from potential contact with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious infections among those with weak immune systems.
Listeria symptoms include high fever, headaches, stiffness, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
According to the state Department of Health, 11 of the recalled products have been distributed in Hawaii, most of them under Mann’s Signature Farms brand.
The recalled products have a “Best If Enjoyed By” date of between Oct. 11 and Nov. 16. Anyone in possession of a recalled product within this date range is advised to dispose of it.
The full list of recalled products in Hawaii includes: the Monterey Risotto, Sesame Sriracha and Southwest Chipotle of Mann’s Nourish Bowls; Mann’s Power Blend; the 12-ounce bags of Signature Farms’ Broccoli and Cauliflower, Broccoli Coleslaw, Broccoli Florets, Vegetable Medley and Broccoli Stir-Fry; and Signature Farms 24- and 54-ounce Veggie With Ranch Dip Tray.
