Elemelec “Eley” “Melec” Erorita Aguinaldo, 80, of Papaikou died June 26 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired vegetable farmer and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. July 12 (Friday) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire. Chitsuko Asuka, 91, of Hilo died June 29 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Kukuihaele, she was retired from the late opthamologist Dr. John M. Zelko’s office and a member of Tenrikyo Church and Upper Kaumana Kumiai. Private services held. Survived by husband, Robert Asuka of Hilo; son, Darrell Asuka of Hilo; daughters, Audrey (John) Kusiak of Santa Fe, N.M., Norine (Scott Tamura) Asuka of Honolulu; brother, Robert (Janis) Kashimoto of Tucson, Ariz.; a step-grandson; nieces and nephews. Charles Kalani Kaiawe, 44, of Hilo died May 23 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kailua-Kona, he was a truck driver for Hawaii Gas, fisherman and member of Central Kawailani Kumiai.
