As of 11 a.m. today, Tropical Storm Alvin is in the Eastern Pacific about 595 miles south of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico.
The storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and is moving westerly at 14 mph. Tropical storm-force winds of 39 mph or greater extend about 35 miles from the storm’s center.
Alvin is projected to slowly strengthen through Thursday, then to start weakening on Friday and become a remnant low pressure system on Saturday, with no effect on Hawaii weather.
