The county Department of Public Works is closing Laupahoehoe Point Road to all but local traffic Monday through Wednesday to accommodate the removal of a large, leaning tree.
According to a Thursday statement, DPW staff has put up message boards and are going house-to-house to notify residents.
In the meantime, crews have already begun trimming the branches of the 130-foot ironwood tree, which is partially uprooted and leaning over the road.
