Police launched an investigation after finding a dead man Wednesday morning on Kilauea Avenue in Hilo.
The man was found slouched over a utility pole while police responded to an unspecified incident at 1:40 a.m.
Police have not discovered foul play, but an autopsy will be conducted later this week to determine the exact cause of death.
Efforts are being sought to identify the man or witnesses who might have spoken to or seen the man in the area.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Joseph Picadura of the South Hilo Patrol Division at 961-2213.
