Saddle up and bring your appetite this Saturday (Feb. 23) for the Waiakea Lions Club 65th annual Chuckwagon Breakfast from 6:30-9:30 a.m. at Aunty Sally’s Luau Hale in Hilo.
All funds raised during this event go back to the community to support youth groups, charities, service projects and scholarships.
Participating with the Waiakea Lions this year will be members from other Lions Clubs in East Hawaii, the Waiakea High School Leos and Boy and Cub Scouts of Troop/Pack 19. Waiakea club president Stephanie Clark says that without the help of these youth groups, their adult leaders and parents, the Lions could not put on the breakfast.
Event chairman Alan Shiraishi expects Aunty Sally’s again will make for an easier flow of traffic, no matter the weather conditions. The public can eat in, come in to pick up meals or use one of two drive-thru options — express for 1-3 meals or bulk orders for 4 or more meals.
There is ample parking on the pavement near Aunty Sally’s and adjacent to Piilani Street. Entrance to the drive-thru lanes will be from the road immediately in front of Wong Stadium. Boy Scouts will provide traffic assistance.
The breakfast will include prepared Spam, scrambled eggs, rice, pancakes, syrup and papaya. Coffee, hot cocoa and juice will be available for those who eat in or pick up meals.
Where else can you get such a fantastic breakfast for only $6 while knowing you are also helping to support the Hilo community?
Tickets can be purchased from any Waiakea Lions Club member, Waiakea High School Leo and Troop 19 Boy Scouts and Pack 19 Cub Scouts. Tickets also are available at the door.
