Emiko Akana, 88, of Keaau died Nov. 5 at home. Born in Kaueleau, Puna, she was a retired cashier for the former Food Fair Supermarket. Private services held. Survived by son, Francis Akana of Hilo; brother, Hiroshi (Carol) Morioka of Hilo; sister, Tomoe Hara of Keaau; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Rebecca Quihano Pau, 89, of Hawaiian Paradise Park died Oct. 17 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Kapapala and raised in Kalapana, she was Hawaiian music entertainer known as Aunty Becky “the Songbird of Puna,” Bible teacher and member of Hawaiian Paradise Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 1) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Graveside urn committal service 9 a.m. Monday (Dec. 3) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Gregory (Susan) Pau of Pahoa, Glen (Antoinette) Pau of Makakilo, Oahu, Teddy (Colleen) Pau of Hilo and Louis J.K. (Pumehana) Pau of Kaneohe, Oahu; brothers, Franklin (Lilinoe) Quihano of Nanakuli, Oahu, Joseph (Bertha) Quihano of Honolulu, Raymond (Janet) Quihano of Hawaiian Paradise Park and Floyd (Noe) Quihano of Kalapana; sisters, Starlight Kaopuiki of Nanakuli and Lucy Scullion of Aiea, Oahu; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Edward Valentine “Eddie” Souza, 89, of Kaapahu Homesteads, Honokaa, died Nov. 11 at home. Born in Pohakea, he was a retired custodian at Honokaa Armory, rancher, macadamia nut farmer, welder at Hilo Iron Works, shop supervisor at Brantley Center, installer for Hawaii County Equal 0pportunity Council and U.S. Army Korean War veteran.Visitation 8-10 a.m. Friday (Nov. 30) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by wife, Bernadette; sons, Edward Souza, Colin (Cecilia) Souza and Shawn (Mary) Souza; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews.
