Hilo athletics steak-fry fundraiser

The Hilo Athletic Committee in partnership with the Hilo High athletic department will be holding its steak-fry fundraiser on Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the school gym to benefit Vikings athletics.

Kiawe-grilled steak plates will be on sale for $10 each and ready for pick-up.

Waiakea seeks golf coach

Waiakea High School is accepting applications for varsity girls golf coach.

Applications can be picked up from the Waiakea main office during business hours, and the application deadline is Nov. 16.

All coaches hired by the Department of Education are subject to passing a criminal background check.

Waimea hoops league camp

Waimea Athletics, in partnership with DNA Basketball Academy, is accepting youth coed basketball registration until Dec. 13, for a free league for rages 9-14.

The registration fee is $25 and includes jersey top, electronic league photo, team placement & player insurance.

A three-day clinic will held on Dec. 11-13 at Thelma Parker Gym. Clinic times are 4:30-5:30 p.m., ages 9/10; 5:30-6:30 p.m., ages 11-14.

Honokaa High coaches wanted

Honokaa High is accepting applications for varsity head boys volleyball coach and varsity tennis coach.

HI Intensity club tryouts

HI Intensity Volleyball Club will hold tryouts for girls interested in playing club volleyball this 2018-2019 season. The divisions are 18U & 16U for girls in 8th grade to 12th grade. Tryouts will be held on Friday at Waiakea Uka Gym. Check-in at 6 p.m.; tryouts from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday at Andrews Gym. Check-in at 11:30 a.m.; tryouts from noon to 3 p.m.

All girls must have waivers signed by parents prior to tryouts. Registration is required.

A wrong state of birth was given for Bill Trumbo in an obituary story that ran in Tuesday’s edition. Trumbo was born in Kentucky.
