Police are asking for the public’s help with finding a Puna man they described as “armed and dangerous,” who is wanted in connection with a shooting incident Sept. 1 in Mountain View.

David B. Cordeiro is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown eyes and hair.

According to police, officers received a Sept. 2 report of an incident from the day before in which Cordeiro was said to have fired multiple gunshots into the hood and windshield of a vehicle with two individuals inside.

No one was physically injured as a result of the shooting, police said.

According to court records, Cordeiro has a criminal record dating back to 2000, including felony convictions for terroristic threatening and domestic abuse of a minor younger than 14, and misdemeanor convictions for endangering the welfare of a minor and domestic abuse.

The Hilo Special Enforcement Unit formed a task force to apprehend Cordeiro. The public is advised not to approach him.

Anyone who sees Cordeiro or might know his whereabouts is asked to call the department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300. If circumstances dictate, call 911.

In addition, Detective Aaron Carvalho of the Special Enforcement Unit can be reached via email at aaron.carvalho@hawaiicounty.gov.
