Jose Manulani Augustin, 66, of Hilo died Aug. 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired operating assistant for Hilo Medical Center and member of Kokua Committee for the Merrie Monarch Festival and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 9-10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Emmaline Nokoolani Kihe DeVillanueva, 77, of Ocean View died July 1 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Ka‘u, she was a homemaker. Sophia Iaukea, 69, of Pahoa died Aug. 11 at Hawaii Care Choices’ Pohai Malama Care Center. Ellen Hiroko Mabuni, 76, of Hilo died July 14 at a private care home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired agent for Allstate Insurance, former agent for Horita Realty and secretary at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Honowai Elementary School. Private services held. Survived by husband, Earl Mabuni of Hilo; sons, Eric Mabuni of Hilo and Michael (Rieko) Mabuni of Japan; daughter, Lianne (Dave) Mabuni-Passmore of Makakilo, Oahu; brother, Richard (Suzanne) Yamashita of Hawaii Kai, Oahu; sister, Beatrice (Roy) Sakoda of Cerritos, Calif.; brother-in-law, Charles Taketa of Honolulu; sisters-in-law, Nancy Yamashita of Aiea, Oahu, and Taeko Yamashita of Hilo; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
