East Hawaii natives and Hilo High School graduates James “Jimi” Kunimura and Sandra Tokuuke were elected in July to the board of directors of the nonprofit Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center.

Kunimura has a B.S. in business administration from Oregon State University and an M.B.A. and J.D. from Willamette University. He works as an associate attorney for Nakamoto, Okamoto & Yamamoto and is vice president of the Hawaii County Bar Association.

Tokuuke has a B.A. in education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and is a vice president and senior financial adviser at Merrill Lynch. She serves on the boards of the UH-Hilo Alumni & Friends Association, UH-Hilo Performing Arts Center Advisory Committee, YWCA of Hawaii Island and Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawaii.

Also on the Ku‘ikahi board are president Doug Adams, vice president Jennifer Zelko-Schlueter, treasurer Twylla Baptiste, secretary Julie Hugo and directors Aaron Brown, Jeri Gertz, Jennifer Ng, Sherilyn Tavares and Andy Wilson.
