A rat lungworm support group, a joint effort by Hilo Medical Center and Puna Community Medical Center, will meet from 4-6 p.m. today and Feb. 13 at Neighborhood Place of Puna in Keaau.

The group gathers to support survivors of rat lungworm and their caregivers. People who suspect they had rat lungworm also are welcome, as well as advocates and researchers working to advance the prevention of rat lungworm in the community.

The meetings will feature members from the group working on the treatment of rat lungworm and group work where survivors and caregivers can share and discuss the challenges and triumphs of living with rat lungworm.

Guest speaker will be Hilo Medical Center neurologist Dr. William Herrera.

Neighborhood Place is located at 16-105 Opukahaia St. For more information, contact Elena Cabatu, Hilo Medical Center director of public affairs, at ecabatu@hhsc.org or 932-3160.
