A standoff in Hawaiian Beaches ended today with the suspect taking his own life, police said.

A Tribune-Herald reporter on scene heard multiple gunshots fired between 12:14 p.m. and 12:40 p.m. as police told the suspect to surrender via a bullhorn.

“Come out with your hands up and we won’t harm you,” police told the suspect.

The incident began at 12:20 a.m. when officers responded to reports of shots fired at the home on Kamanu Street.

Officers said the suspect was “barricaded” inside a vehicle in the driveway. A woman who was trapped in the home was escorted out by a special response team. She was physically unharmed.
