Hawaii senior middle Emily Maglio was named the Big West women’s Volleyball player of the Week on Monday, the first in the career of the Canadian national.

Maglio averaged 5.33 kills and 1.33 block per set, hitting a combined .560, as the Rainbow Wahine swept Cal State Northridge and Long Beach State last week. Maglio had a match-high 13 kills and five blocks against the Matadors, adding 19 kills when hitting .630 against the 49ers.

Maglio, an All-American on the Hawaii beach team, previously had been named conference Defensive Player of the Week four times. She has led the Wahine (18-7, 12-2) in kills 12 times, with 20 double-digit kill performances, and in blocking 22 times this season.

Also on Monday, Hawaii remained at 49 in the Ratings Percentage Index, the computer-generated ranking system used by the NCAA for its seeding and team selection in the postseason tournament.
