Big Island police arrested a Hilo man Thursday after he reportedly broke into and stole items from a self-storage unit earlier this week.

The suspect, 33-year-old Marco Castro, was arrested at a Punawai Street residence and charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft.

Castro’s charges stem from an incident Tuesday morning, when employees at Shipman Industrial Park saw a man move items from someone else’s storage unit to another. The man fled the scene when officers were called.

Police recovered some of the stolen items from the second storage unit the following day.

Castro was released on $11,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 30.
