According to a police log, a woman killed in a two-car collision Thursday afternoon on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) between Kaiminani Drive and Ahikawa Street in North Kona, is 71-year-old Bernadette Chock of Kailua-Kona.

According to a police log, a woman killed in a two-car collision Thursday afternoon on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) between Kaiminani Drive and Ahikawa Street in North Kona, is 71-year-old Bernadette Chock of Kailua-Kona.

Her death is the 23rd official Big Island traffic fatality of 2007, compared to 15 at this time last year. There have also been four vehicle-related deaths this year police don’t count toward the official total because two occurred on private property and two were in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
