Police say several handguns were stolen from a shipping container in the Hamakua District.
On Tuesday, police were called to a vacant property on Paauilo Mauka Road after a caretaker noticed a door on a shipping container was pried opened. The victim, a 78-year-old Alaska man, told police that a red portable Honda generator and several collectible Smith &Wesson, Colt and AMT revolvers and semi-automatic pistols were taken from the container.
Potential witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department’s nonemergency number at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
