The Hawaii Island Contractors’ Association held its annual Legislative Day general membership meeting May 18 at Nani Mau Gardens.

The meeting was organized to give Hawaii Island contractors and guests an opportunity to meet and receive legislative updates on contracting issues from state Reps. Richard Creagan, Nicole Lowen, Mark Nakashima, Joy San Buenaventura and Chris Todd, and state Sens. Lorraine Inouye and Kai Kahele.

The Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Hawaii Island Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Kanoelehua Industrial Area Association partnered to host the event.

Also contributing to the evening’s networking success were Allied Machinery Corp., Big Island Energy Co., HPM Building Supply, JLures.com and ProVision Solar Inc.

“It was a very informative and well-organized meeting,” said Bill Walter, president of W.H. Shipman Ltd.

“We are pleased to receive positive feedback in regards to this year’s legislative update,” said Michele Robles of the HICA. “Everyone did a great job coming together and we look forward to other opportunities to partner again.”
