A neighbor used a garden hose to extinguish a fire in a Waiakea Uka wood shop early Thursday morning, according to fire officials.

Nine units responded to a 2:43 a.m. alarm at 133 Alawaena St. Responders found the fire already extinguished. No one was injured.

According to a Fire Department statement, there was $10,000 damage and the neighbor’s quick action saved about $200,000 in property value.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
