Members of North Hawaii Community Hospital’s canine corps were recently honored in observance of National Therapy Animal Day.

These special four-legged volunteers joined their handlers for some fun and games in honor of the valuable work they do throughout the year.

Dogs enjoyed some competitive games, showed off their tricks, were treated to special canine cake and took home goody bags from Petco.

Pet therapy animals provide often much-needed comfort to patients and are active members of the hospital’s volunteer program.

Visits by these special dogs are often the highlight of a patient’s day.
