Strongman competition

The Big Island Substance Abuse Council will be sponsoring its fourth annual strongman competition July 30 at Edith Kanaka’ole Multipurpose Stadium as part of its yearly Summer Jam Festival.

The competition is sanctioned by North American Strongman, and this year there are lightweight (220 pounds and below) and heavyweight (more than 220) divisions.

The competition starts at 7 a.m. Weigh-ins are 6 p.m. July 29 at Resolution Gym

Razorbacks registration

The Wailoa Razorbacks Pop Warner Football Association is holding tackle football registration packet pickup from 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays through July 29 at the parking lot next to Mooheau Park Field

The divisions are Mitey-Mites (7-9 yrs), Peewees (9-12 yrs), and Junior Varsity (10-13 yrs).

Practice starts on August 1, and the registration fee is $150.

Aikane tennis

Aikane Tennis will be held 7-10 p.m. July 5 at Edith Kanaka’ole Multipurpose Stadium.

Slow-pitch softball tourney

Hawaiian Isle Athletics is holding its annual slow-pitch softball tournament July 22-24 at Wong Stadium Complex and Gilbert Carvalho Park.

Divisions are men, women’s and 50s. The deadline for early registration is Thursday.
