Dance instructor Angel Prince will offer a six-week series of salsa and tango evening classes. Thursday evenings from July 7 through Aug. 11 in the Mike Luce Studio at the Kahilu Theatre.

No partner is necessary for these classes.

Prince has been teaching salsa and tango for more than 15 years — 12 on the Big Island — and is the artistic director of Prince Dance Institute at Kahilu Theatre as well as Prince Dance Theatre. Prince has a bachelor’s degree in dance and psychology and is pursuing a master’s in tendencies of contemporary dance. Her training for salsa was completed in New York, and she studied Argentine tango in Buenos Aires.

Beginner- and intermediate-level salsa classes will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Instruction will focus on turns, shines, partner connection and musicality. The cost is $75 for the entire series or $15 for a drop-in session.

Beginner- and intermediate-level tango classes are from 6:45-8:15 p.m. Classes will focus on embrace, connection, musicality and basic- and intermediate-level step combinations. The cost is $100 for the entire series or $20 for drop-ins.
