Sport: Track

With all apologies to Kamehameha’s Kayla Araki, a state judo champion, and Kamehameha’s state championship baseball team, the selection of the Hawaii Prep senior was a no brainer.

It could have been just a normal HHSAA championship meet for Taylor – ho hum, just another pair of hurdling titles – but she also took silver in the 200, lifting to Ka Makani to the girls title, their first since 1995.

The state crown puts the perfect exclamation point on Taylor’s high school career, which includes seven state golds, eight BIIF titles and two league championship records.
