Boys and girls club golf benefit scheduled

The Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island will hold its 10th annual Tee Off for Kids Golf Tournament Fundraiser on June 11 at Francis H. I’i Brown South Course at Mauna Lani.

The benefit needs sponsors, players, volunteers, prizes, live auction items and monetary donations are accepted.

Gold-level sponsors are invited to exclusive, pre-tournament golfing at Kohanaiki. All sponsors are welcome to attend a pupus and cocktail party at Mauna Lani on June 10.

The registration deadline is May 23.

Dartmouth honor for former Warrior

Dartmouth freshman Zoe Leonard, a 2015 Kamehameha-Hawaii graduate, was named the team’s Rookie of the Year at the school’s end-of-the-year banquet.

Playing in all 88 sets during the season, Leonard lead her team digs (284), digs per set (3.23) and aces (27).

Waiakea meeting on tap for volleyball

The Waiakea girls volleyball team will hold a meet and greet potluck for players and coaches from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at the school gym. A brief that ran in Tuesday’s edition omitted the day of the meeting

The meeting will include information for Waiakea’s voluntary summer workout program as well as clarify any questions from players and parents for all girls in grades 9-12 and eight-graders who are interested in trying out next season.

Kohala Center golf tournament is May 28

The Kohala Center will host the inaugural Planet Hawaii Golf Tournament May 28 at Four Seasons. The event includes golf, prizes, a post-tournament gathering and heavy pupus.

The tournament will be played as a two-person, select drive, low net score format.

Hapuna Roughwater

The Hapuna Roughwater swim will take place at 8 a.m. June 18. To register for the 1-mile race, go to FLPregister.com/178. There is discounted pricing for early sign-up.

There will be a 400-meter keiki swim race, followed by main event. T-shirts with sign-up guaranteed through June 4 registration. Water patrol volunteers are still needed. Contact Ed Doherty with any questions at Eddoherty1@me.com.

Kamehameha volleyball camp in June

The Kamehameha School boys volleyball team is hosting its annual “All Day, All Night, Volleyball Camp” for high school boys and girls, along with the day camp for elementary/middle school volleyball players at the school campus.

The high school sleep-over camp (grade 9-12) runs June 5-9. The cost is $180 and includes three meals per day.

Elementary/middle school day camp for boys and girls grade 2-8 runs June 6-9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $125 or $153 with a bento lunch/snack option.

Team discounts are available for seven or more players. Coaches and parents are also able to volunteer, learn and participate.
