James Leroy Fox Jr., 74, of Papaaloa died Oct. 5 at home. Born in Pittsburgh, he was a retired computer software engineer at the University of Pittsburgh and U.S. Navy veteran. Services held. Survived by wife, Susan Hermanoche of Papaaloa; sons, Shane (Chris T) Fox of Papaaloa, Jason Fox of Norway and David Fox of Pittsburgh; brother, Larry (Sandy) Fox of Pennsylvania; sister, Carol Fox of Pennsylvania; one granddaughter. Lorraine Hiroko Torigoe Kane, 69, of Kurtistown died Oct. 1 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Hilo, she was a retired physical therapist for Straub Hospital in Honolulu and Hilo Medical Center, and member of Puna Covenant Church. Visitation 1-2 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 18) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by husband, Darrell Kane; hanai son, Kalani (Julia Yamanouchi) Kane; hanai daughter, Leah (Thomas) Mariani; mother, Yuriko Torigoe; brothers, Ivan (Helen) Torigoe and Brian Torigoe; sister, Gail (Alan) Yoneshige; one grandson; three nephews and four nieces. Violet Costa Morreira, 93, of Honolulu died Sept. 30. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker and worked part time at Kipapa Elementary School. Services 9-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, 3300 Ala Laulani St., Salt Lake, Honolulu. Burial 1:30 p.m. at Mililani Memorial Park Cemetery. Casual attire; flowers and koden (monetary gifts) welcome. Survived by daughters, Sheila Cabango Beverly Dorado and Paulette Bretzinger; son, Albert Morreira; brothers, Tony Costa and Wilbert Costa; sisters, Irene Rushing, Julie Makaiau and Carol Honda; eight grandchildren and 15 grandchildren.

The late Mary “Malia” Kuahiwinui is survived by, among others, son-in-law Walter McGuire of Hilo. His name was omitted in an obituary published Sunday.
