There will be a mixed-6’s indoor volleyball tournament at 9 a.m. July 18 at Christian Liberty’s gym in Keaau.

All ages are welcome. The cost is $30 per team, and the deadline to register is 5 p.m. July 13.

Battling cancer softball tournament

The Battling against Cancer softball tournament will be held Aug. 29-30 at Walter Victor Stadium.

Divisions are mixed – at least two wahine – and kupuna, and the cost is $200 per team.

Boys & Girls Club golf benefit

Boys & Girls Club Big Island will hold its ninth annual Tee Off for Kids Golf Tournament Fundraiser on Aug. 8 at Mauna Lani Bay South Course.

The youth development organization is asking participants to become a sponsor, play in the tournament, contribute in-kind prizes, monetary donations or volunteer their time

Gold-level sponsors and up are invited to pretournament golfing at Kohanaiki and a pupus and cocktail party Aug. 7.

St. Joseph High golf fundraiser

St Joseph High will hold a fundraising golf tournament on Aug. 22 at the Waikoloa Kings’ Course. Proceeds will go towards uniforms, equipment and travel expenses.

The entry fee is $125.

Hilo volleyball conditioning

Hilo High girls volleyball is having conditioning workouts from 3-5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.

All interested athletes must have a current physical before participating.

Strongman event July 25

The Big Island Substance Abuse Council will be sponsoring its third annual strongman competition on July 25 at Waiakea High as part of its yearly Summer Jam Festival.

This year’s competition has been sanctioned by North American Strongman and serves as a national qualifier.

Registration is open to males 21 years and older through July 7. All participants need to be registered NAS members as part of their registration fee for the competition.

Events for the Strongman are a secret until competition day, but they often include categories such as truck pulls, deadlifts, farmer’s walk and tire flips, according to a release.

Registration is available at the BISAC administration office at 16-179 Melekahiwa St. in Keaau.
