Keian Kanetani

Keian Kanetani

Sport: Baseball

School: Keaau

Performance: On the mound, Kanetani won on consecutive days, logging 10 1/3 innings and striking out 11.

At the plate, he led Keaau with three hits and drove in two runs.

When the junior wasn’t pitching, Kanetani anchored the Cougars’ defense at shortstop and made a pair of gems with his glove.

Beyond all the numbers, Kanetani was the one who closed out Kealakehe, securing his school’s first trip to the Big Island Interscholastic Federation finals.

The Waveriders’ Pohaku Dela Cruz was well on his way to winning this honor after leaving Saturday’s Game 3 with a 4-2 lead. But Kanetani helped Keaau rally during a pair of four-run rallies in the fifth and six innings, and he recorded the final 10 outs.
