Mavis Cowan Cook, 92, of Waimea died Dec. 17 at home. Born in Ewa, Oahu, she was a homemaker and community volunteer. Private services. Survived by sons, Frank Cook III of Waimea, Soupy Campbell of Waimea and Steven (Keri) Campbell of Holualoa; daughters, Faye Daniel of Kona and Piilani Isaia of Oahu; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Herbert P. Ornellas, 86, of Hilo died Dec. 12 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Army corporal, and owned and operated the former Panaewa Poultry Farms, 50th State bar and Gift Wrap Hawaii. Visitation at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic church. Mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery No. 2. No flowers. Survived by spouse, Lorraine “Lori” Bugado Ornellas of Hilo; son, Kenneth (Rosemarie) Ornellas of Colorado; daughter, Brenda Ornellas of North Carolina; brother, Edward Ornellas of California; sister, Mildred Correa of Hilo; one grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
